Leanne Kalb has been running a meal distribution for students in need for the last five years. During the pandemic, the need has only increased, and through Panther Pack, she’s making sure they continue to get the food. Without her hard work, people would go hungry and that’s why they call her a “community hero.” (story)

Protests continue around the country after the death of George Floyd, but some good is happening out there. Tensions are high, but in some places, officers are showing solidarity with demonstrators. Some are hugging protesters, praying with them, and taking a knee to honor Floyd. (story)

Chicago Public Schools temporarily stopped free meal services during Monday’s protests, but local restaurants stepped in to help. Students who get those meals were fed with free meals from several restaurants, as well as food pantries, churches, and neighborhood organizations. One of the restaurants, Urban Grill Chicago, received enough donations to continue feeding students for free for the rest of the week. (story)
